ADA 10 Under 10: Meet Dr. Eddie Ramirez
Award honors new dentists for demonstrating excellence
Eddie Ramirez, D.M.D., of Portland, Oregon — one of the 2025 recipients of the ADA 10 Under 10 Award — fell in love with dentistry at the age of 8 while visiting his aunt’s dental office.
Since then, his career journey has brought him from dental assistant to dental director at a private practice where he oversees 18 team members.
In a video by the American Dental Association, the 2018 graduate of the Oregon Health & Science University School of Dentistry said he never stops learning.
“When you come out of school, you think you’re supposed to know everything, but you don’t,” Dr. Ramirez said. “It’s called the ‘practice’ of dentistry. I learn something new every day.”
One lesson he has learned is to embrace mistakes and grow from them.
“Persevere, be resilient, have your goals, and you will succeed,” he said.
The ADA New Dentist Committee chose the recipients of the 10 Under 10 Award for demonstrating excellence and inspiring others in science, research and education; practice excellence; philanthropy; leadership; and advocacy. All 10 awardees are ADA members who graduated from dental school less than 10 years ago. The honorees were announced in March 2025 during Elevate in Washington, D.C.
