Vaping webinar set for March 25
The ADA is presenting a free webinar in March addressing how dental providers can speak with their patients about vaping and its epidemic.
Vaping and Oral Health: Seeing Through Clouds will stream on March 25 from noon-1 p.m. Central time. One hour of continuing education credit is available to all attendees who complete the one-hour event.
The webinar will include speakers from different health care sectors and will also discuss the latest evidence on e-cigarette use’s impact on the oral mucosa, resources to help patients speak with patients, and the targeted communities of product advertising.
The event’s speakers are:
- Purnima Kumar, D.D.S., is a professor of periodontology at the Ohio State University. In addition to her clinical practice, Dr. Kumar maintains an active research program in human microbial ecology that is funded through the National Institutes of Health and oral health care corporate partners and has authored over 100 papers and book chapters.
- Laurie Rubiner, J.D., is executive vice president for domestic programs at the Campaign for Tobacco Free Kids, a leading advocacy organization working to reduce tobacco use and its deadly consequences in the United States and around the world. She has more than 25 years of experience in Congress and the nonprofit sector.
- Keri Hess is a program administrator at the Health Education Council, a nonprofit organization dedicated to cultivating health and well-being in under-served communities. She leads the LUCHA Tabaco program, funded by the California Tobacco Control Program, and seeks to address health disparities among Latino populations.
For those dentists who can't stream the webinar live, a recording will be available for on-demand viewing at a later date. Dentists are encouraged to register to receive a link when the recording is posted.
