Women in Dentistry Leadership Series to tackle subjects that matter most to women
The Women in Dentistry Leadership Series at SmileCon will amplify the influence of women in dentistry with programming that highlights their viewpoints on the subjects that matter most to them, both professionally and personally.
The series includes Secrets from Successful Women (1113) , Drop the Ball: Achieving More by Doing Less (2106) and Figure Out What You Want (2119) .
Secrets from Successful Women, from 3:30-5 p.m. Oct. 11, will feature talks from Lee Ann Brady, D.M.D., executive director and director of education at the Pankey Institute; Jessica Metcalfe, D.M.D., founder of @TheAlchemistDentist; and Tiffany Dufu, founder and CEO of The Cru.
Dr. Brady will share her secrets to resiliency, Dr. Metcalfe will discuss imposter syndrome and how to overcome self-doubt and perfectionism, and Ms. Dufu will explain how to achieve more by doing less. The presentations will culminate in a conversation moderated by American Dental Association Executive Director Kathleen T. O'Loughlin, D.M.D.
"Gender inequality has been around for thousands of years, and yet modern research has clearly demonstrated that diversity of thought and diversity in the composition of leadership enables superior decision-making for any organization. What is holding us back as a society to put qualified, talented, passionate women in leadership positions?" Dr. O'Loughlin said. "Perhaps we lack the belief that women are able to transform organizations for the good, to lead with grace and humility and to lead with powerful intellect and compassion. Women leaders are what the world needs now. They drive results that benefit the organization, its talent and its community. No question."
Ms. Dufu will share additional insight into embracing imperfection to achieve more during Drop the Ball: Achieving More by Doing Less from 10:30 a.m.-noon Oct. 12. As someone who struggled to accomplish everything she thought she needed to in order to succeed, Ms. Dufu discovered the solution was letting go. She urges women to expect less of themselves and more from others to create a rich, rewarding life for themselves.
During Figure Out What You Want from 3:30-5 p.m. Oct. 12, TED Talk speaker and career coach Ashley Stahl will help participants turn away from what is holding them back and reconnect with themselves to figure out what they really want.
The Women in Dentistry Leadership Series is sponsored by Crest + Oral-B and included in the SmilePass and Platinum SmilePass. All are welcome to attend the series.
