ADASRI seeks nominations for clinical research award

Submission deadline is May 9

The American Dental Association Science & Research Institute is in search of clinical investigators whose research has made a meaningful impact on some aspect of clinical dentistry, with a particular emphasis on clinical investigations that have advanced the diagnosis, treatment or prevention of craniofacial-oral-dental diseases.

The nomination deadline for the Norton M. Ross Award for Excellence in Clinical Research is May 9. The award, which includes a plaque and $5,000, will be presented during a ceremony later this year. The awards are supported by Johnson & Johnson Consumer Inc.

Award selection is based upon the scope of the nominee's research, with special emphasis on its impact on clinical dentistry and on publications in refereed journals. Recipients typically demonstrate a high level of creativity and innovation — for example, individuals who have not only developed new materials but also conducted the clinical trials necessary to translate the research results into clinical application.

The Ross Award honors the memory of Dr. Norton M. Ross, a dentist and pharmacologist who spent most of his career in academic and research positions. Dr. Ross elevated clinical research to a higher level of scientific standards. His contributions to the fields of oral medicine and dental clinical research have had a positive and lasting influence on the public's oral health.
