...
Road less traveled: Dentist, author and inspirational speaker Heavenly Kimes, D.D.S., will host DENT Talks during SmileCon 2022 in Houston.

Dentist, author and inspirational speaker Heavenly Kimes, D.D.S., will host DENT Talks during SmileCon, helping to shine a light on a diverse group of speakers who will share their thoughts on three different themes.

Dr. Kimes is a cosmetic and implant dentist who owns a practice in the Atlanta area and co-wrote the bestselling series "Wake Up? Live the Life You Love." She is also the author of "Dr. Heavenly's Business Prescriptions" and "The Business of Love" and appears on Bravo's "Married to Medicine" with her husband, Damon Kimes, M.D. The mother of three has more than 1.1 million Instagram followers.

Introduced at SmileCon 2021 in Las Vegas, DENT Talks are back this year in Houston with three new themes: Human Challenge, Road Less Traveled and Love of Dentistry. Each talk will feature three speakers from the dental community, who will share their perspectives on the session's theme in 20 minutes or less.

During DENT Talks - Love of Dentistry (5150) on Oct. 13, the speakers will help dentists understand the importance of their platform, connect their stories to their practices and communities, and have an impact on the communities they serve. Speakers include Catherine Murphy, D.D.S., orthodontist and founder of In Harmony Orthodontics in Griffith, Indiana; Steve C. Hollar, D.D.S., general dentist in Warsaw, Indiana; and Gary Bethea, D.D.S, general dentist and author in Blythewood, South Carolina.

Dr. Kimes herself will present Oct. 14 during DENT Talks - Road Less Traveled (6152). During the session, Dr. Kimes and her fellow speakers - Tina M. Brandon Abbatangelo, D.D.S., clinical director of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas Smiles Dental Clinic at the UNLV School of Dental Medicine, and Ashley Rosenbaum, D.M.D., pediatric dentist and owner of Premier Pediatric Dentistry in Miami, Florida - will share their inspiring stories of choosing unconventional paths and help attendees open their hearts and minds to new opportunities, receive invitations presented in their lives, and prepare themselves for challenges.

DENT Talks - Human Challenge (7141) on Oct. 15 will discuss how challenge is a part of life and share speakers' stories of challenges and triumphs, as well as tips to help dentists get going when life gets tough. Rico D. Short, D.M.D., endodontist in Kennesaw, Georgia; Bruce R. Terry, D.M.D., endodontist in Wayne, Pennsylvania; and Sharon Parsons, D.D.S., dentist and practice owner in Columbus, Ohio, will cover passion, possibilities and limits.

Each DENT Talk will be worth one hour of continuing education credit and take place from 10-11 a.m. in Dental Central, Smile Zone A, Stage 2. The talks are included with the Dental Central Pass, Smile Pass and Platinum Smile Pass.

This year's SmileCon is a joint meeting with the 2022 Texas Dental Association Meeting and the 2023 Greater Houston Dental Society's Star of the South Dental Meeting. It will take place Oct. 13-15 at the George R. Brown Convention Center. Registration discounts end at 5 p.m. CDT Sept. 30.
