ADA Foundation Board of Directors now accepting nominations
Applications due March 31
The ADA Foundation Board of Directors is seeking applications for new members to join the board beginning this August. Since its transition in 2019, the ADAF has continued to maintain its endowed funds, administer research and leadership awards and is now looking ahead to its future.
The ADA Foundation is the philanthropic arm of the American Dental Association and encourages hope and health in communities by improving access to oral health care through impactful programs such as Give Kids A Smile. The Foundation also provides financial assistance to dentists and their families in need and recognizes and supports promising leaders in the dental profession.
For new board members, the Foundation is looking for individuals "who are willing to stretch the limit and make the organization the focus of their philanthropy," according to the application. The ADAF Board said it is particularly interested in adding individuals who have influence within their own community, can open doors, attract others to the cause, and serve as ambassadors for the Foundation. Members of the board generally serve four-year terms.
The key criteria for an ADAF Boardmember include:
- A demonstrated willingness to support charitable organizations by contributing funds commensurate with his/her ability, or by having the capability to raise funds from other individuals, corporations, or foundations.
- An interest and desire to serve the ADAF in fulfillment of its mission.
- Previous successful board or committee experience.
- Effective communication skills.
- A diverse background, including age, gender, ethnicity, race and geography.
- Experience with a nonprofit organization and complex organizations.
- Highly desirable skill sets might include strengths in finance, legal, auditing, education, philanthropy, public health and/or working with vulnerable populations.
Interested applicants should complete the application form located at ADAFoundation.org .
The application, along with a current CV, should be sent to ADA Foundation Board Chair Craig Armstrong, D.D.S., in care of Tracey Schilligo at schilligot@ada.org .
