Entity to pursue commercial applications of research

...

The American Dental Association has announced the creation of ADA Corporate Ventures to pursue commercial applications of oral health research conducted by the ADA Forsyth Institute.

ADA Corporate Ventures, which houses two new entities in the form of an LLC and a C corporation, will allow the ADA to create new partnerships, new companies and other ventures with third parties.

AFI was formed in October 2023 by combining the ADA Science & Research Institute and the Forsyth Institute. ADA Forsyth Institute is dedicated to advancing global health, accelerating oral health innovation, and powering the profession of dentistry through cutting-edge basic research, creative translational science, innovative clinical techniques, education and global public health outreach.

Dave Preble, D.D.S., president and chief executive officer of ADA Corporate Ventures and ADA chief strategy officer, said the new structure brings the ADA toward its vision of going “from bench top to dental chair.”

“This is an exciting time for the ADA, using the best scientific research to harness innovative technologies to advance the profession and benefit patients,” Dr. Preble said.

Ben Wu, D.D.S, Ph.D., chief operating officer and chief scientific officer of the ADA Forsyth Institute, shared his enthusiasm about the new entity and future innovation.

“Congratulations to the ADA leadership for creating a forward-thinking infrastructure to accelerate the development of accessible and high quality, innovative solutions to help us serve more patients,” Dr. Wu said.
