ADA leaders pen editorial on what Make America Healthy Again could mean for oral health
Piece appears in April issue of JADA

As the Trump administration approaches its 100-day mark later this month, the ADA continues to lead conversations on oral health through an editorial published in The Journal of the American Dental Association.
“Make America Healthy Again: What It Could Mean for Oral Health,” penned by ADA President Brett Kessler, D.D.S., and President-elect Richard Rosato, D.M.D., highlights challenges and opportunities that lie ahead as part of the administration’s Make America Healthy Again health care platform. The piece covers reforming dental insurance, increasing oral health literacy, addressing dental workforce issues and investing in prevention.
“Oral health is a critical component of making America healthy again, and in our JADA editorial, Dr. Rosato and I outline a vision for improving oral health in the current landscape,” Dr. Kessler said. “There are challenges and opportunities on our path to accelerating progress, and the ADA is committed to leading the conversation on oral health’s essential place in the national health care agenda.”
The editorial, which appears in the journal’s April issue, comes on the heels of Dr. Kessler’s Jan. 19 Washington Post editorial that encouraged federal officials to consider the importance of oral health and its effect on overall health.
