Meeting scheduled for Sept. 9-10

...

Dental communicators from across the country will converge in San Diego in September for the American Association of Dental Editors and Journalists Annual Conference.

Set for Sept. 9–10 at the Manchester Grand Hyatt, the conference promises two days of sessions covering everything from harnessing artificial intelligence in publishing to mastering podcasting, copyediting and ethics, plus strategies for digital publishing success.

“This is a premier opportunity to sharpen your skills, exchange ideas and explore the future of dental publishing,” said Christopher J. Smiley, D.D.S., president of the American Association of Dental Editors and Journalists.

This year’s lineup features a number of speakers in publishing, including:

  • Kristi Parker Johnson, managing editor of CDA Journal, on applying journalism fundamentals to scientific content.
  • Katherine Fiorillo, senior editor for the University of Michigan Alumni Association, on elevating digital publishing.
  • Alisun DeKock, digital archivist and publishing librarian for the ADA Library & Archive, who will talk about ADA Commons, a digital archive of ADA publishing materials.

The conference offers networking, up to 10 continuing education credits and an awards reception celebrating excellence in dental journalism.

Registration options include:

  • Full program – $495: Includes all sessions, 10 CE credits, breakfast and lunch on Sept. 10 and the evening awards reception.
  • Sept. 10 only – $200: Includes lunch, three CE credits, and the awards reception.
