ADA CE series dives into CDT 2026
Panel addresses what changes were made and why

New this year, the American Dental Association is offering a continuing education series to explain some of the 60 changes coming to the CDT Code in 2026 and the overall code maintenance process.
The 2026 CDT Codes: Clinical Practice Series includes seven on-demand, online courses. The first offers a comprehensive look into the structure, maintenance and ongoing updates of CDT codes while the second — a recorded panel discussion — addresses codes recently brought before the Code Maintenance Committee. The panel will explain what changes were accepted for CDT 2026 and the rationale behind them, giving participants insight into the key factors that influence code additions, revisions and deletions and how these decisions affect day-to-day clinical practice.
Through four of the courses, dentists will learn about and attain skills for procedures that are not new but did not previously have their own codes. These sessions will be presented from a clinical perspective and will not address the coding process directly.
Wrapping up the series is a recorded session dedicated to answering questions submitted by dental professionals throughout the program. This Q&A session will feature the same panelists from the previous recorded panel discussion.
The courses, which will be released one at a time through Sept. 3, include:
• The CDT Code: Why It Exists, How It’s Maintained and What’s Changed.
• Inside the CDT Code Process: A Panel Discussion.
• Photobiomodulation in Dentistry: Applications and Benefits.
• Implant Maintenance Procedures for Full-Arch Removable Implant Supported Dentures.
• Scaling and Debridement of Single Implants with Peri-Implantitis.
• Cracked Tooth Syndrome (CTS): A Guide to Diagnosis and Treatment.
• CDT 2026 FAQ.
The courses can be purchased individually or as a bundle. The full bundle is worth eight continuing education credits. To learn more and purchase, visit CE.ADA.org.
