ADA offers discounted access to Talkspace Therapy
Users receive confidential sessions, messaging with licensed therapist in their area

Following the launch of Talkspace Go in January as a complimentary resource for ADA members, including dental students, the Association is expanding its member benefits to include discounted access to Talkspace Therapy.
Talkspace Therapy is a digital platform that supports behavioral health and emotional wellness needs from a secure app that is compliant with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act. ADA users will get one 30-minute live, confidential session with a dedicated, licensed therapist in their area each month, plus unlimited access to asynchronous messaging via text or audio with their therapist.
“We are our most valuable asset, and we must take care of ourselves as such,” ADA President Brett Kessler, D.D.S., said in a video message to members announcing the new benefit. “I try to live by this daily because when we are at our best, we can give our best to those we serve. So, let’s make wellness a priority, together.”
ADA members can sign up by visiting ADA.org/talkspacetherapy and downloading the app from their preferred app store. They will receive about 90% off Talkspace Therapy’s full price by registering through the ADA.
Julie Spaniel, D.D.S., ADA wellness ambassador, member of the ADA Dental Team Wellness Advisory Committee and member of the ADA Council on Communications, said she was initially curious about the quality of therapists available through an app when she began using Talkspace Therapy.
“After choosing a therapist and completing my first session, I can confidently say it was an excellent experience,” Dr. Spaniel said. “My therapist is highly qualified, with over 20 years of experience, and maintains a private practice in addition to working through the app.”
She said she found the quality of care she received through Talkspace Therapy to be on par with what she has received from other therapists in the past.
“For anyone seeking professional support in a convenient and accessible way, I highly recommend Talkspace Therapy,” Dr. Spaniel said.
