ADA Children’s Airway Event to strengthen dentists’ communication, clinical skills

Event to take place July 24-26 in downtown Chicago

...

Dentists and their teams will learn how to communicate the importance of children’s airway health to families and caregivers during From Knowledge to Action: A Children’s Airway Event.

The event, taking place July 24-26 in downtown Chicago and providing 14 continuing education credits, will help dental professionals gain vital communication skills to address all aspects of breathing issues they see in their clinics. Through the cases presented, they will also enhance their clinical skills and understand the obstacles that were overcome for eventual success.

Through the event, dental professionals will:

• Enhance their ability to effectively explain the importance of breathing issues and treatment recommendations to patients, parents, colleagues and the public, emphasizing their connections to a child’s long-term health outcomes.

• Apply case-based learning to refine both clinical assessment of respiratory issues and strategies for overcoming communication challenges encountered with diverse audiences.

• Strengthen interdisciplinary collaboration by learning to convey critical insights about structural respiratory problems and treatment plans to team members and colleagues in a clear and persuasive manner.

Speakers will include Steve Carstensen, D.D.S.; Lauren Ballinger, D.D.S.; Kevin Boyd, D.D.S.; Marianna Evans, D.D.S.; Kalli Hale, D.D.S.; Jennifer Hobson; Robert Lustig, M.D.; Loria Nahatis, D.D.S.; and Samantha Weaver.
