Thomas M. Paumier, D.D.S., voted ADA president-elect

Thomas M. Paumier, D.D.S., from Canton, Ohio, was voted president-elect Oct. 27 by the ADA House of Delegates.

Dr. Paumier served as president of the Ohio Dental Association; chair of the Council on Members Insurance and Retirement Programs; and has served on the ADA Strategic Forecasting Committee. He received his dental degree from Ohio State University College of Dentistry.

Dr. Paumier ran against James M. Boyle III, D.D.S., of Lancaster, Pennsylvania; Giorgio T. Di Vincenzo, D.M.D., of Jersey City, New Jersey; and Michele Tulak-Gorecki, D.D.S., of Rochester Hills, Michigan. He won after two runoff votes.

Second vice president

Ben Youel, D.D.S., of Grayslake, Illinois, was elected second vice president.

Dr. Youel has served on the ADA Finance Committee, Council on Membership, New Dentist Committee and Council on Scientific Affairs. He attended the University of Illinois Chicago College of Dentistry.

Dr. Youel ran against Meredith A. Bailey, D.M.D., of Boston, and Frederick W. Wetzel, D.D.S., of Saratoga Springs, New York.

Speaker

Debra Peters S. Peters, D.D.S., of Grand Rapids, Michigan, was elected speaker of the ADA House of Delegates.

Dr. Peters is a past speaker of the house and president of the Michigan Dental Association. She served as chair of the ADA Council on Membership and Council Ethics, Bylaws & Judicial Affairs and is a graduate of the University of Michigan School of Dentistry.

Dr. Peters ran against Ralph L. Howell Jr., D.D.S., of Suffolk, Virginia.
