Request code changes to CDT 2027 by Nov. 1
Code Maintenance Committee will take action on requests in March 2026

Code change requests for CDT 2027 are due by Nov. 1.
While parties can submit requests at any time to add, revise or delete codes, submissions made after that date will be addressed in the next annual maintenance cycle.
Anyone — including dentists, office staff, individuals with an interest in dental coding, professional organizations and companies — can submit a request by filling out the official form at ADA.org/CDT and emailing it to dentalcode@ada.org. Forms with errors or omissions will be returned for correction.
The Code Maintenance Committee will meet in March 2026 to take action on change requests, and submitters will be notified of the committee’s decisions by April. Accepted changes will then appear in CDT 2027 and go into effect Jan. 1, 2027.
Examples of reasons to request a new code include that a new procedure doesn’t fit an existing code; technology or materials have changed; or better accuracy is needed for documentation and claims processing. According to the ADA, strong requests include a clear procedure description; supporting evidence or documentation; an explanation of how the new code would differ from existing codes; and a rationale on why it’s needed.
