Academy for Sports Dentistry to offer sports dentist certification course
Event to focus on preventing, managing trauma
The Academy for Sports Dentistry is offering a sports dentist certification course to help prepare dentists to prevent and manage trauma in the field of sports dentistry.
The 1.5-day, in-person event will take place Feb. 27 and 28 at Glidewell Dental Lab in Irvine, California. Session topics include the athletic trainer/dentist relationship, dental trauma prevention, dental trauma preparedness, scanning, 3D printing, mouthguard fabrication, suturing and more.
Instructors have a combined total of more than 150 years of sports dental experience covering NBA, NFL, NHL, MLS, NCAA and high school teams.
Participants will earn 11.75 hours of continuing education credit. Attendance is limited to 100 people, including no more than 30 dental students. The deadline to register is Feb. 19.
The Academy for Sports Dentistry has reserved a block of rooms at the Hilton Irvine/Orange County Airport. Attendees must book their rooms by Jan. 27 to receive the special group rate.
The cost of the course is $765 for academy members, $1,165 for nonmembers, $99 for academy student affiliates and $249 for nonmember students.
