ADA launches new Patient Service Coordinator Program
Courses cover fundamentals, real-world scenarios
The American Dental Association is offering a new continuing education program for patient service coordinators, who serve as a connection point between patients and the rest of the dental team.
Through the ADA Patient Service Coordinator Program, participants will learn the clinical and administrative fundamentals needed for this position and apply them in real-world scenarios through 16 on-demand courses.
This program will provide patient service coordinators with the tools to:
• Make patients feel welcome when they visit and communicate with professionalism and empathy.
• Verify insurance coverage, process claims, collect payments and manage billing.
• Learn dental terminology, coding and critical compliance requirements.
• Use practice management software and electronic health record systems to keep patient records accurate.
• Manage the appointment book, handle cancellations and support a timely workflow between the front desk and clinical staff.
Course topics include dental anatomy and terminology, dental procedures, scheduling, phone etiquette, insurance billing and basics, CDT dental coding, collections and accounts receivable, minimizing conflict, and more.
Participants can expect to spend about two to five hours per week over one to two months to complete the program. The cost is $999 when purchased by an ADA member dentist. To register a team member, visit CE.ADA.org.
