Past American Academy of Periodontology president dies at 87
Myron “Ron” Nevins, D.D.S., a past president of the American Academy of Periodontology, died Dec. 24, 2025, at the age of 87.
Dr. Nevins served as editor-in-chief of the International Journal of Periodontics and Restorative Dentistry, founded the Institute for Advanced Dental Studies and chaired 14 international symposiums on periodontics and restorative dentistry, according to his obituary. He also held multiple faculty appointments and continued to lecture at the Harvard School of Dental Medicine.
Dr. Nevins is survived by his wife of 64 years, Marcy; sons, Michael (Kim) and Marc (Stacey); and three grandchildren.
