Expand your practice with ADA CE on sports dentistry, Botox
Courses run June through November
From dental regulations to sports dentistry to Botox, upcoming continuing education courses from the American Dental Association will cover a wide range of topics dentists can take back to their practices.
“Navigating Dental Regulations and Practice Standards: Mandatory or Optional?” — a live webinar taking place from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. CDT June 12 — will provide dental professionals with a clear, clinically focused overview of the regulatory agencies, standards-setting organizations and professional groups that shape dental care. Through the two-credit course, participants will learn how to distinguish between regulations, voluntary consensus standards and professional guidelines and how to translate this guidance into practical application within their practices.
The ADA’s live webinars will continue in July with “Sports Dentistry Triple Play: Women Athletes, Triage Training and Injury Prevention,” a three-part webinar designed for dentists who want to expand their role in athlete care. Worth three CE credits and running from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. CDT July 10, it will cover women’s health and sports dentistry, current concepts for dental trauma and triage, and sports dentistry oral health advocacy and standards.
Dentists can learn more and register for these live webinars at CE.ADA.org. Live webinars are not included in ADA CE Online subscriptions.
The ADA will also present in-person Botox workshops June 12-13, Sept. 11-12 and Nov. 6-7 at its headquarters in Chicago. Under the guidance of American Academy of Facial Esthetics expert faculty, dentists will learn proper patient evaluation, treatment planning, dosing, documentation and injection techniques while performing hands-on procedures on live patients.
Each set of dates will include four certification trainings covering botulinum toxin, dermal fillers, frontline temporomandibular joint and facial pain trigger point, and comprehensive gum regeneration and filling black triangles. Each course is worth 10 CE credits, and dentists can register for them individually. Dental team members must be accompanied by their dentist to register. Not all states permit dentists to administer botulinum toxins, so dentists should consult their state dental boards before performing this procedure.
