ADA to launch CBCT training for dentists, teams

CE program kicks off Nov. 6 with live webinar

The American Dental Association is launching a cone-beam computed tomography training program with learning options for both dentists and team members.

One option, worth three continuing education credits, is open to dentists, dental hygienists, dental assistants and lab technicians. It will cover foundational knowledge, including clinical applications of CBCT, image acquisition principles, radiation safety, and the role of CBCT in patient care, treatment and planning.

A second option, worth eight CE credits and open only to dentists, will offer advanced case-based learning, bonus self-study e-learning and a virtual study club.

Both pathways will begin with a live webinar from 9 a.m.-noon CST Nov. 6 covering the foundational topics listed for Option 1. Dentists who register for the second pathway will continue the webinar from 12:30-3:30 p.m. CST with a focus on case-based CBCT interpretation and clinical integration.

The study club will then take place from 5-6 p.m. CST Nov. 17, and dentists will also have access to one hour of e-learning.

Each option will be led by Trishul Allareddy, D.D.S., Ph.D., professor emeritus of oral pathology, radiology and medicine at the University of Iowa. All sessions will be recorded for on-demand access.
