Biden administration extends student loan forgiveness deadline
The Biden administration announced an extension to a key student loan forgiveness deadline that allows borrowers to consolidate loans.
The loan consolidation combines federal student loans into one new federal loan and could get debt canceled sooner than it would have been. Some borrowers could see their debt forgiven immediately. The deadline, which was previously April 30, is now June 30.
Consolidating to take advantage of the temporary payment count adjustment opportunity is an especially good deal for borrowers who have been paying off loans for years and for those who carry multiple loans from different time periods.
