Black dentists reflect on being minorities in profession
Airiga Tucker-Mims, D.D.S., and Bruce Hamilton, D.D.S., both Milwaukee-based dentists, share their experiences of being among the minority of Black dentists in the United States.
Dr. Hamilton, who dreamed of becoming a dentist since childhood, emphasized the scarcity of Black private practice owners in the Milwaukee area. Dr. Tucker-Mims recalls facing challenges as one of the few Black students during her dental school education.
Despite these obstacles, both dentists have found success and fulfillment in their careers.
