Fluoridated water is expected to return to the water systems in Buffalo, New York for the first time in nine years.
In 2015, Buffalo water systems halted treating drinking water with fluoride, potentially contributing to an increase in dental issues among children in the region, according to a news story from WGRZ. In response, parents filed a class action lawsuit for damages caused by the dental procedures their children underwent.
The city will continue to monitor the use of fluoride in Buffalo’s water systems to ensure that the levels are within the safe range set by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
