California bill aims to protect dentists from ‘predatory’ virtual credit cards
The California Dental Association is supporting legislation that would address many dentists’ concerns regarding the collection of fees associated with virtual credit card payments.
The new bill seeks to reduce the “predatory practices” of dental plans and virtual credit card companies by requiring that the plans and virtual credit card companies provide “a clear and easy process” for opting in and out of payments to ensure dentists receive the full payment for their services.
According to the California Dental Association, dentists pay up to 10% per transaction on every payment the dental plan owes them, with no guaranteed opt-out option.
