A study published in the Journal of Endodontics assessed the effect of systemic corticosteroid use on the intensity of postoperative endodontic pain.
After reviewing all available literature regarding systemic corticosteroids (oral or locally injected), researchers found that a single preoperative or immediate postoperative dose of corticosteroids “significantly reduces the intensity of postoperative pain in the short-term following endodontic treatment.”
