CDC: McDonald’s E. coli outbreak
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention provided an update on the E. coli outbreak as 26 new cases have been reported in individuals who have consumed McDonald’s Quarter Pounders.
The CDC detailed that a total of 75 cases, 22 hospitalizations and one death have been identified across 13 states. The agency is investigating whether beef patties or Taylor Farms’ onions may be responsible for the outbreak. As a result, Taylor Farms has issued a recall of its yellow onions.
Individuals who may have symptoms of an E. coli infection — including abdominal cramps, diarrhea and vomiting — were advised to visit a health care provider.
