Cosmetics-linked adverse effects reporting system launched by FDA
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has introduced a dashboard to help record adverse effects resultant from the use of cosmetic products.
Consumers, health care professionals and cosmetologists may utilize the platform to submit potential adverse effects. The dashboard is designed to provide consumers with real-time results, including most up-to-date listings on the severity of adverse effects caused by cosmetic products.
However, the FDA noted that the agency will not verify the reports. As a result, the inclusion of adverse effects in the database is not meant to indicate whether a cosmetic product is safe.
