Discrimination in medical school
A study may have uncovered the likelihood of discrimination among students in medical school.
In the study, published in JAMA Network Open, researchers surveyed more than 45,000 graduating medical school students between 2020 and 2022.
The researchers found that more than 22% of them reported general discrimination and nearly 22% and 12% of them reported gender- and race-based discrimination, respectively. However, medical school students with disabilities — especially Black female students — were more likely to face all types of discrimination compared with those without disabilities.
