First-graders receive free dental kits
In honor of Children's Dental Health Month, the Delta Dental Foundation of Minnesota is delivering dental health kits to first-graders in every county in the state throughout February.
About 50,000 kits and educational materials will be delivered to 628 Minnesota schools. The kits contain a toothbrush, fluoridated toothpaste, floss, a water bottle, an oral health educational booklet and a two-minute timer to promote brushing for the recommended two-minute time.
The event is organized by the Smiles@School program, which found about half the schools did not have an oral health care program or curriculum.
