A hospital in Illinois, Sarah Bush Lincoln, received a grant of more than $105,000 for their dental program.
The institution plans to use the funding to expand its teledentistry program for at-risk children, according to WCIA. The hospital’s dental program provides care to 3,300 children across 10 counties. With the grant, the program will now be able to utilize teledentistry on their mobile dental bus to virtually perform and analyze examinations of patients’ oral cavities, X-rays and intraoral pictures.
The teledentistry program may also provide greater access to dental services in rural communities and school-based settings.
