Temporary, plastic snap-on veneers have gained popularity on social media platforms, according to a news article from DentistryIQ. Despite the positive initial appearance and lower cost of the snap-on veneers, the experts cited in the article detailed the potential oral health consequences of using them.

Unlike professional porcelain veneers, snap-on veneers don’t require adjustments to their enamel and are sought as temporary solutions to conceal missing, discolored and chipped teeth. However, the snap-on veneers can trap food particles against the tooth’s surface, thereby increasing the risk of tooth decay and gum disease. Further, they don't demonstrate the same level of quality as porcelain veneers and can damage the tooth enamel.

The experts advised individuals who desire to get veneers to seek dental professionals who can safely perform the procedure.
