Medical center partners with not-for-profit to boost dental care

The University of Vermont Medical Center has partnered with a federally qualified health center, the Hudson Headwaters Health Network, to expand the university’s dental residency program, improve access to preventive dental care and encourage more dental residents to practice in rural communities across northern New York.

According to a report from Vermont Business Magazine, the partnership will add the network’s dental center in Warrensburg as a training site for dental residents and allow dentists to meet the growing needs of patients throughout the region.

“We’re excited to expand and to be able to offer our residents more experiences providing dental care and services. Having a training site at Hudson Headwaters means our residents will have the opportunity to provide different care and treatment and, as a result, help even more [patients],” concluded Justin Hurlburt, D.M.D., program director of UVM Medical Center’s dental residency program.
