Misinformation campaigns increasingly target water fluoridation
Communities across the nation are ending community water fluoridation programs, often fueled by groups that say people should decide whether they want the mineral — long proven to fight cavities — added to their water supply.
The ADA, the American Academy of Pediatrics and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention all support the use of fluoridated water, citing studies that show it reduces tooth decay.
“Drinking fluoridated water keeps teeth strong and reduces cavities,” the CDC said in a statement to NBC News.
