Nearly 25% of people dropped from Medicaid still uninsured

A survey on Medicaid eligibility found that nearly one in 4 people bumped from Medicaid coverage last year remain uninsured.

These individuals are more likely to struggle to pay for health care and delay medical appointments, according to the Kaiser Family Foundation survey.

“Since the start of Medicaid unwinding, KFF state tracking shows that more than 20 million people have been disenrolled from Medicaid, with states reporting renewal outcomes for two-thirds of enrollees so far,” the KFF report said. “While the scale of the unwinding is unprecedented, the survey findings can help policymakers understand how to improve the Medicaid renewal process more generally going forward.”
