Nearly half of voters say student loan forgiveness is key election issue
Nearly half of voters, or 48%, say canceling student loan debt is an important issue in the 2024 presidential and congressional elections, according to a survey by SocialSphere, a research and consulting firm.
Among younger people, 70% of Gen Z respondents said the action was “very” or “somewhat” important in the election, and 72% of Black voters and 68% of Hispanic voters indicated they believe the same.
The poll of 3,812 registered voters, including 2,601 Gen Z and millennial respondents, was conducted March 15-19.
The ADA continues to advocate for student loan debt relief, including legislation that would lower interest rates overall and pause the accrual of interest and payments on federal student loans for dental students in residency.
