New program may increase access to dental care in Wisconsin

The Wisconsin Dental Association’s annual fee program known as the Dental Savings Club may help patients without dental insurance residing in Wisconsin receive discounts on dental care.

The ADA estimates that about 23% of adult patients aged 19 to 64 and 9% of pediatric patients may not have private or Medicaid dental insurance.

According to a report in WiscNews, program members who pay $48 per year for individuals or $108 per year for families will be offered 15% to 55% discounts on dental fees. Cleanings, fillings, X-rays, crowns, dentures and implants will also be covered by the 12% of Wisconsin practicing dentists who have already signed up to participate in the program.

The Wisconsin Dental Association hopes its program can improve access to dental care among patients without dental insurance or those with insurance whose oral health needs exceed coverage.
