Nonsurgical root canal retreatment: Changes in outcomes over time

In a study published in the Journal of Endodontics, investigators examined the long-term outcomes of 241 nonsurgical root canal retreatments performed by a single endodontist between 1986 and 2019 among a group of 202 patients.

After a median follow-up of more than nine years, the investigators found thatĀ the rate of radiographic healing was greater than 64%. The investigators noted that treatment success and tooth survival were favorable.

The investigators concluded that the rates of radiographic periapical healingĀ and treatment success improved over time.
