Olympic oral health

This year, the Paris Olympics will feature a first-ever Oral Health Department.

While the Olympics has operated a dental clinic for a century, the International Olympic Committee is working to improve the new department with screenings, emergency care and preventative treatment tailored especially to athletes and their performance needs.

Former Olympian Dijana Elmejdoubi, D.D.S., said the health of athletes’ mouths can affect their performance in many ways, emphasizing the significance of the new department.
