Precooked proteins recalled due to Listeria outbreak
The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service announced that BrucePac has recalled nearly 11.8 million pounds of its ready-to-eat meat and poultry products after they were found to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.
The recall concerns meat products with the numbers “51205” or “P-51205” that were prepared between May 31 and Oct. 8 and distributed across the country to various restaurants, schools and other institutions.
Individuals who have consumed the products were advised to watch for symptoms of listeriosis such as fevers, diarrhea, muscle aches, headaches, stiff necks, confusion, loss of balance and convulsions. Those most at risk include pregnant patients, newborns, older adults and those who are immunocompromised.
