Public health alert: Listeria outbreak in ready-to-eat pasta products

...

The U.S. Department of Agriculture issued a public health alert after Listeria monocytogenes was identified in samples of ready-to-eat linguine pasta products.

The agency detailed that consumers should dispose of or return the affected products: Marketside Linguine With Beef Meatballs and Marinara Sauce sold at Walmart and Cajun Style Blackened Chicken Breast Fettucine Alfredo sold at Trader Joe’s.

Individuals who have consumed to the contaminated products could experience listeriosis — the symptoms of which include fever, headache, muscle aches, stiff neck, confusion, loss of balance, convulsions and/or diarrhea — and were advised to seek medical attention. In those who are pregnant, the infection can cause miscarriages, stillbirths, premature delivery or life-threatening infection of the newborn; immunocompromised or older individuals may also be at increased risk of severe disease and death.
