Spring break mission benefits patients, dental students

Six dental students from the University of Colorado School of Dental Medicine embarked on service-learning trips to Brazil and Honduras during their spring breaks.

The school’s global health initiatives teach students about oral health disparities, the burden of oral health diseases and equity in access to dental care.

In addition to providing preventative services for local youth, the dental students also had the opportunity to perform dental procedures on patients of all ages — as third-year students, they have been seeing patients with faculty supervision in the CU dental clinics for just over a year.
