There's still time to reduce your tax bill
The April 15 federal tax deadline is quickly approaching, but there is still time to reduce an unexpected tax bill or boost your refund.
For example, one option is a pretax individual retirement account contribution. Those interested have until the federal tax deadline for 2023 deposits, which could reduce adjusted gross income depending on earnings and workplace plan participation.
Married couples filing jointly can also save to an "underutilized" spousal IRA, which is a separate Roth or traditional IRA for nonworking spouses. Couples can contribute up to the limit for each IRA if the working spouse has enough earned income.
