UnitedHealthcare CEO fatally shot in Manhattan

Brian Thompson, chief executive officer of UnitedHealthcare, was fatally shot in midtown Manhattan on Dec. 4 at the age of 50.

Law enforcement officials stated that the shooting occurred when Mr. Thompson was walking to the UnitedHealthcare annual investor conference being held at the New York Hilton Hotel in Midtown Manhattan, according to a breaking news report from CNN.

A gunman reportedly shot Mr. Thompson several times, including in the chest, before fleeing into Central Park on a bicycle. After being rushed to Mount Sinai West in critical condition, Mr. Thompson was pronounced dead.

The attack was believed to be targeted, and the manhunt for the suspect is ongoing.
