University launches dental hygiene training lab, community clinic

Utah Valley University announced the opening of its dental hygiene training laboratory and community clinic.

The program will train future dental hygienists and provide free and low-cost oral health care to more than 3,000 low-income Americans, according to a report from Utah Business. The clinic will also expand its training capacity by incorporating an additional nine chairs, up from 15 chairs.

Leaders at the clinic hope the introduction of the new program can better meet the dental needs of the community by improving access to high-quality oral health care.
