Investigators are developing a protocol to uncover the factors associated with patient adherence to orthodontic treatment.
Although patient adherence is known to boost orthodontic treatment success, there have been few studies focused on this factor.
In a scoping review published in BDJ Open, investigators examined the literature by searching Embase, PubMed and Web of Science Core Collection databases.
The investigators plan to execute a data charting process, categorize the results into topics based on study recommendations for patient adherence and determine knowledge gaps in adherence to advice and recommendations. With the findings, the investigators hope to propose future recommendations for dental professionals performing orthodontic treatment.
