WHO concludes vaccines saving infants' lives

A new study from the World Health Organization found vaccines directly contributed to reducing infant deaths by 40% globally.

The paper estimates that in the last half-century, vaccines prevented 154 million deaths, including 101 million infant deaths.

Vaccination against 14 diseases (diphtheria, Haemophilus influenzae type B, hepatitis B, Japanese encephalitis, measles, meningitis A, pertussis, invasive pneumococcal disease, polio, rotavirus, rubella, tetanus, tuberculosis, and yellow fever) directly contributed to reducing infant deaths by more than 50% in Africa.
