Celebrate Houston culture during SmileCon Street Fest
Event to highlight food, music, art of host city
From sampling tasty bites that reflect the diversity of Houston cuisine to enjoying the sights and sounds of the city's eclectic art scene, dentists can celebrate all aspects of Houston culture during SmileCon Street Fest.
The festival will take place from 5-8 p.m. Oct. 14 along Avenida de las Americas outside the George R. Brown Convention Center, the site of SmileCon. This year's meeting is a joint event with the 2022 Texas Dental Association Meeting and the 2023 Greater Houston Dental Society's Star of the South Dental Meeting. It will take place Oct. 13-15.
The festival will put the Houston culinary scene on full display through sweet and savory mini bites, beers from area breweries and food truck offerings available for purchase. The event will also highlight the city's lively music and art scenes, with a performance by a local band and opportunities to engage with interactive art, including creating a unique SmileCon souvenir.
Attendees can capture the kind of Instagram-worthy shots only Houston can deliver, as eye-popping art cars — as seen in the famous Houston Art Car Parade — come to Avenida de las Americas for the party. They can also grab some SmileCon merchandise from a pop-up store at the festival.
New dentists and dental students will have a special space all their own, the New Dentist Lounge — sponsored by Dandy and Laurel Road — and they can continue the fun at the New Dentist Mixer immediately following the festival at the Marriot Marquis Houston pool deck, hosted by the ADA New Dentist Committee.
SmileCon Street Fest is included with the Smile Pass and Platinum Smile Pass. Admission costs $50 for Dental Central Pass holders, who can purchase tickets through the ADA Events mobile app, at SmileCon.org or in person at the registration desk. Tickets include mini bites and two drinks.
