Atlanta ‘veneer tech’ indicted on more than 100 charges

ADA warns dental treatment from unlicensed individuals may cause damage

...

A Georgia man who claimed to be a “veneer technician” is facing more than 100 charges after he allegedly practiced dentistry without a license, according to local media reports.

Brandon Dillard is accused of illegally performing cosmetic dental procedures that earned him millions of dollars between 2021 and 2024, reports stated. He was arrested Oct. 3, 2024, and indicted Nov. 21 of this year by a grand jury.

The charges against Mr. Dillard include violation of Georgia’s Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations, or RICO, Act, theft by deception, practice of dentistry without a license, practice of medicine without a license, battery, possession of dangerous drugs, conspiracy to commit insurance fraud and more.

In May 2024, the ADA issued a statement addressing reports of so-called “veneer technicians.”

“Unsupervised dental treatment from unlicensed individuals has the potential to cause damaging complications for patients, and any dental procedure that may alter the physical structure of an individual’s teeth, gums or jaws, without the supervision of a dentist, has the potential to cause irreversible harm,” the ADA said in its statement.

Dentistry is a regulated profession that requires formal education and licensure, the ADA said. Dentists and dental hygienists must be licensed in a state to provide care within that state.

Mr. Dillard is scheduled to be arraigned in January 2026.
