Live ADA seminars to tackle dentists’ biggest insurance issues
Virtual events will build on topics covered by ADA News’ ‘Dear ADA’ series
The ADA News’ “Dear ADA” series is coming to dentists live through free, virtual seminars hosted by the American Dental Association.
The seminars will kick off with “Dear ADA Live: Navigating Contracts, Coverage, and Care with ADA Experts” at 5 p.m. CDT June 15.
Dental insurance issues are often cited as one of dentists’ top challenges. The ADA News launched “Dear ADA” in 2025 to help dentists navigate these challenges by having ADA experts answer common insurance-related questions the Association receives from members. Each month, the series aims to provide clarity and direct members to additional resources.
The first seminar will address topics covered in “Dear ADA,” including exclusivity clauses in PPO agreements, PPO leasing arrangements, and reimbursement and lack of dental plan assistance for out-of-network dentists.
Speakers will include Shelley Olson, D.D.S., a general dentist from Oxford, North Carolina, who is the chair of the ADA Council on Dental Benefit Programs; Bertram Hughes, D.D.S., a general dentist from Gainesville, Florida, who is the vice chair of the council; and Travis Campbell, D.D.S., a general dentist from Prosper, Texas.
“As a practicing dentist, I know how frustrating and time consuming dental insurance issues can be for our teams and our patients. This webinar is an opportunity for providers to hear directly from peers who are dealing with these same challenges,” Dr. Olson said. “We want to talk openly about contracts, coverage decisions and reimbursement realities, answer the questions we hear most often from members, and explain how the ADA is working to support dentists in navigating these issues.”
The seminar does not provide continuing education credits. Visit the event webpage to register.
